    • The Secretary of the PA Dept. of Drug and Alcohol programs notes that every $1.00 spent on treatment for addiction recovery saves $7.00 in physical health costs and $5.00 in criminal justice costs.
    • The National Institute of Mental Health states that 1 in 4 Americans suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder in a given year.
    • The National Institute on Drug Abuse estimates that the “total overall costs of substance abuse in the United States, including productivity and health- and crime-related costs, exceed $600 billion annually.” 
    • The NY State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services released a survey stating that 10% of all American adults (23.5 Million) identify themselves as being in recovery from drug and/or alcohol abuse.
    • According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 25.2% of people suffering from any mental illness abuse illicit drugs. Also, 8.8% of all Americans aged 12 or older used an illicit drug in the past month and 4.9% of people aged 12 and older have abused pain killers for non-medical use in the past year.
    • Mental-health-recovery.org notes that up to 70% of people in treatment for alcohol dependence are successful, up to 60% of people in treatment for cocaine are successful, and up to 80% of people in treatment for opiate dependence are successful.
    • According to WebMD, more than 2/3 of all families in the US have been touched by drug and/or alcohol addiction.
